Dealing With Monday Morning Blues

Look Monday’s aren’t all that bad. Sure you probably wasted the weekend and didn’t get anything productive done but don’t worry, the great thing about weekends is there will always be another one. If like us you are feeling the Monday Morning Blues then here are our top tips for surviving the beginning of the week:

Prepare for Monday on the Friday

This can mean multiple things but for us we like to have a plan of action that we know we can implement at the start of each week. This plan is put in place well in advance of a new week and we find it helps focus and gets staff mentally prepared for the events of next week.

Disconnect

Now that you have a Monday Morning Plan it’s time to focus on you. Every Friday you will be aware of what awaits you on Monday, no more surprises. So now in theory it should be easier to disconnect from your work. When you leave the office on Friday you should be able to forget about it till Monday morning, if thoughts of work start to creep in then tell yourself it can wait, because it can wait.

Enjoy your weekend

The key to getting rid of the Monday Morning Blues is to have a fun packed weekend. This could mean streaming a TV series all Sunday in your PJ’s, heading out with friends or inviting the family over for dinner. The weekends are for doing whatever makes you happy.

Treat yourself

This can be a big or small gesture to you. Have something to look forward to at the end of a Monday. Winter is coming and that means some gripping American TV returns of a Monday night. Finding something that you and your co-workers enjoy can be a great way to increase comradery as you discuss plot and possible theories for tonight’s new episode.

Look after yourself

Head to bed early on a Sunday night, don’t skip breakfast and if possible…get some exercise in before you start your work day. These three recommendations have been proven help increase your endurance, deliver oxygen and nutrients to your tissues and help your cardiovascular system work more efficiently

What do you do for a living?

If you’ve tried all this before and still have absolute dread on a Sunday night then maybe, just maybe it is time to start thinking about a new career. Make a list of all the things you do like about your job, then try and find a new line of work that incorporates all of that list. Diversify your skills by taking online courses and really pursue change in your life. Or do you already know what your real passion is? Follow that, go for that new adventure. As the old saying goes, if you find a job you love then you never work a day in your life.

So what do you think? Are Monday’s better now…probably not but hopefully they can be more manageable for you when you take a step back and look at the bigger picture, it’s just another day.
