The Slow and Steady Return to the Office

Slow and Steady Return to the Office

During a recent Teams meeting with 80% of attendees working from home the topic of coming back into the office came up. Guidelines and common sense will tell you that it is not fully safe to return to the office on a full-time basis but it is time to start planning your return. Office supplies, technology and office furniture fall under the category of essential items so from a business perspective things have remained largely the same but now we have the majority of our staff working from home with contingency plans in place if any member has to be office based for the day, for example the internet going down. But is your business ready for what will be a slow and steady return for a lot (but not all) of your team?

Task Areas
Smaller Desks

Are the days of large office desks gone? The home office has seen a dramatic increase in smaller form desks going into production. We will be returning to a workforce that spreads their staff out which means the smaller form factor desk might be one of the most sought-after products when business return to the new normal.

Screens

Open plan design will have to evolve, and that evolution will for now include screens/dividers. Creating this division and isolation members from each other should help if a virus enters your workforce.

Ergonomic Chairs

People have spent over a year now working from a kitchen table and stool. Its time to look after yourself, the damage this way of working is doing to your health is not worth it. If you don’t already have an ergonomic chair you must get one, your back will thank you for it and that goes for anyone returning to the office or staying at home. Look after yourself.

Keep it clean

Colds, flu’s and covid are not going anywhere, the first defence needs to be the vaccine but there are other measures we can take that go beyond that. Its second nature now to wear a mask and sanitise our hands everywhere we go but there are other things we can do to limit our chance of picking up any illness, microban mouse pads should be an essential item for any office. Think about it, how long do you leave your hand by your mouse when working? It makes sense to make sure that area is as clean as possible microban technology is affordable and inhibits the uncontrolled growth of damaging microbes, such as bacteria. The same goes for your keyboard. Statistics say its dirtier than a toilet…when was the last time you cleaned your keyboard? I think I’ll go do that now before I finish this blog.

For April we are running great deals on cleaning products. If your business is getting ready to return then this could be the sale for you. A clean office is a productive one.

Personal Protection Equipment

Masks, gloves, alcohol gel, shoe covers google and so much more. These items should now be standard in any office and no longer just for medical device companies. It may sound extreme but the more you protect yourself the more you protect others around you.

If you are heading back into the office in April or beyond then good luck, stay safe and here’s to a productive and profitable second half of the year. There is light at the end of this covid tunnel.
