What office comforts do you miss the most?
Looks like many of us a destined to be working from home at least a few days a week for the foreseeable. Let’s be serious for a moment, the virus is still very much here so if you can work from home full time then please do. But what office comforts are you missing out on as you start and finish your work day in your PJ’s?
Office Talk
It’s just not the same on the phone is it? We miss having a face to face conversation with our colleagues. Discussing Tiger King over emails just isn’t the same. On the bright side we don’t have to deal with gloating Liverpool fans in person so I guess that’s a plus?
Office Chair
Has your back been acting up again? Get off that kitchen stool for a bit, ergonomic task chairs have become really competitively priced over the last few years. Now that you are working from home more often is it time to invest in some office seating equipment?
Lunch Time
Don’t forget, just because you are working from home doesn’t mean your contract has changed. You are still entitled to breaks so make sure you take them, get some fresh air and have a bite to eat.
Clocking Out
To follow on from our previous point, remember just because you are at home doesn’t mean you should work exhaustingly longer days. Continuous work days like this will fast lead to burn out
Dual Monitors
I think we might be spoiled at the office with two screens but it’s very difficult to go back to one screen when working from home. Add in the ergonomic boost you get from monitor arms and we really start to miss the good old days of commuting to work.
Sit Stand Desks
Okay fine, it’s not exactly the standard in every business but it is fast becoming the norm for new fitouts. Sit stand desks are a great way to keep the body moving while still getting the work done. A frequent change of position can really improve your health and wellbeing.
We’re probably still a year away from a vaccine so for now keep working from home, invest in office equipment if you can and remember to follow Government Guidelines.
