Are you using your office walls properly?
A good planning tool is designed to be added to, changed and if necessary, easily removed. Whether it’s a dry wipe noticeboard (or whiteboard to you and me), pin board or chalkboard, designating an area of your wall to planning doesn’t mean committing it to only one project or team. Make it a tool with constantly changing content and one that everyone can be involved in contributing to.
There are even options for those who do not have the time or people to mount a board to a wall, try a roll Dry Erase Roll that simply unrolls and sticks wherever you need it?
What are the benefits
- Cut down on meetings as project goals and timelines are always visible to teams
- Creating easy ways for teams to brainstorm new ideas
- Keep track of objectives
- Identify pitfalls or bottlenecks early and react to them accordingly with visible timeframes
- Help staff keep focused on the company’s main tasks
A visual reminder is a great way to keep staff motivated and aware of targets being reached or letting them know that its time to push extra hard as you head towards the end of a month.
Great for Communication
Going digital is a great thing, less paper is certainly better for the environment but with a visual target board or task list it can be a great way to involve and therefore have face to face interactions with staff to see how they are getting on with said project or do they need additional supports? Somethings just don’t come across in a weekly emailed status report.
Don’t forget that team building is also a crucial part of success and a non-invasive way of doing this is a chat by the visual project boards.
We hope you consider a physical planning tool at your office as we think it would be beneficial to your teams, department and overall business. For more help on visual planning tools please don’t hesitate to contact us on 0818 730 730 | sales@lowcostoffice.ie
