How to Work from Home Successfully
Looks like more of us are back working from home again. At level 3 it is recommended that where possible you continue to work from home and thankfully this is a message that is getting through to a lot of our customers who are once again ordering office supplies direct to their door instead of their business. But working from home isn’t always that easy or as exciting as we’d hoped. If you find yourself procrastinating, then continue reading and then get straight back to work!
Get started early
You no longer have the morning commute, try not to exchange that extra time for sleeping. Get up, be active and be at your desk (kitchen table) at your usual start time. The commute is useful for getting your head into work mode and switch your mindset to all business for the day. A walk or run is a great way to get the mind clear but remember, keep it within 5k.
Structure and Rroutine
If we learnt anything with working from home in 2020 its how hard it is to stay focused. Many of us are dealing with dogs, cats, kids and other distractions but strict routine and structure can really help motivate your workday and keep you focused. Take the same tea breaks, lunch breaks and start/finish times as you do in the office as even a small change can impact your work life balance. This will be the norm for the rest of 2020 so we might as well get used to it.
Dedicated Workspace
Setup shop in the same space everyday, familiarity helps with productivity and moving from area to area increases distraction and takes your focus off your work. Highly recommend not sitting on the couch watching TV while taking sales calls. Its just not a good idea.
Stay Connected
One pitfall many don’t consider when working from home is the lack of human connection. It really can impact your working day if you only focus on the screen in front of you at all times. Use technology to have video calls instead of voice calls so that you can make that connection.
Its tough out there for every business in the country, keep doing what you do and things will eventually bounce back. Look after yourself and others. Always wear a mask and keep washing your hands. Low Cost Office are doing everything we can to make sure you still get your office supplies as quick as possible and have recently sourced a number of other suppliers so that we can keep stock levels up and prices down. We’re all in this together so good luck and here’s to being productive while working from home.
