Meeting Project Deadlines
Who else constantly feels under pressure to complete projects? Are you procrastinating or is the scope of the project constantly changing? With your next project in mind read the following blog and try to implement the key points in order to easily meet project deadlines.
Know All the Facts
Before you being the project try and nail down with management all the details in order to stop scope creep and have every opportunity to work on this project the correct way with the correct people and the correct deliverables.
Block Off Time
Let’s face it, every job in the world doesn’t have enough resources for the tasks at hand but if you keep saying yes to everything then of course you won’t hit a deadline. Block off time, make sure management are aware of said time and get focused on achieving completion in that allotted time.
Set Mini Goals
Breaking the project down into mini goals is always a good motivator for larger projects. With milestones and monthly deliverables you know you are either very much on track or if you need to revaluate the time allocated to the project.
Reward Yourself
When you hit those mini goals, reward yourself. It could be a coffee, bar of chocolate or for bigger projects a night out with the team. It’s a great way to keep everyone focused on the end goal while acknowledging the hard work that has already been put in.
Take Breaks
Don’t suffer in silence, don’t burn out. Taking time out is sometimes necessary in order for you to get your best work done. 60 hour weeks and going to the office on a Saturday isn’t helping anyone in the long run. If you are not operating at 100% your work and team will suffer so don’t forget to focus on you.
If a project is running over or unrealistic goals are set then talk to your team or management early, its best to keep them informed then to tell them on the due date that you need more time.
